UPDATED: See notes below.

I need your help please.

This month at the Sydney Business & Technology User Group (SBTUG) we’re covering online accounting, bookkeeping, time tracking and invoicing systems for freelancers and small businesses. But I need some guidance from you:

First, which products should we cover? I’m thinking products like Saasu, Xero, Freshbooks and Zoho. Which others should we include? – ideally we have time for five or six in total. What tools do you use in your business?

UPDATE: A few other products that have been suggested including:
Shoeboxed, MinuteDock, BankLink, FreeAgent, MYOB Live Accounts

And second, who would you recommend we ask to present on them? I’m hoping to have Marc from Saasu along and I’ve just started reaching out to Xero via Twitter. Is there someone you know who uses these products who would be an ideal presenter? Would you be an ideal presenter…

UPDATE 2: Many thanks for your help getting tonight’s SBTUG together. We now have the final agenda up with Saasu, Xero, MYOB, Shoeboxed and Freshbooks sessions, along with a big panel session with all speakers. Here’s the agenda:

5:45pm – Doors open
6:00pm – Welcome & Intro – Craig Bailey
6:15pm – Tech News – Nick Rayner
6:30pm – Facebook Privacy – Jodie Miners
6:45pm – Saasu – Marc Lehmann (Saasu CEO)
7:00pm – Xero – Sara Goepel (Xero Product Manager)
7:15pm – Pizza Break
7:45pm – Shoeboxed – Tobbi Walter (Shoeboxed CFO)
8:00pm – MYOB Live Accounts – Tim Molloy (MYOB Online – General Manager)
8:00pm – Freshbooks – Craig Bailey (Freshbooks – User & Fan :-)
8:30pm – Panel session for Q+A & Audience Suggestions
9:00pm – Finish

And if you’d like to attend, it’s on Wed 26 May, kicking off at 6pm. Full details on the SBTUG site.

You can RSVP here to let us know you’ll be coming.

  • Do also check out FreeAgent (www.freeagentcentral.com). We’re UK based (so might find it a bit tricky to come along to demo!) but have a fair number of subscribers based in Australia…

    • Hey, I like the FreeAgent site. Looks like a nice product. Can you point me to any online help that covers Australian Tax (ie BAS) returns using your product – I think it would be of interest to our members.

  • I’d be an ideal presenter but I’m in EnZed and actually in the US that night! I’d also (if I was you) get MYOB along, they’re not sleeping on this stuff. In terms of Aus/NZ companies I’d say

    -MYOB
    -Xero
    -Saasu
    -BankLink
    -FreshBooks
    -Zoho

Lots more about accounting software on the blog….

  • I’ve just been emailed details of another site – ExpenseCloud – looks good. Thought I’d mention it here if anyone’s interested.
