As far as well-priced technical conferences go, I think the Australian SharePoint Conference is pretty impressive. It’s $650 + GST for two days, with three tracks, held at the Hilton Hotel in Sydney. The speaker line-up ‘aint shabby either.[Note: There’s also a few extras for attendees but I wouldn’t get too excited about them (eg attendees all get a SharePoint Server 2010 hosted site – but it’s only for 3 months and not for commercial use).]
There’s also a big line-up of sponsors and vendor booths, so the usual networking opportunities will be there. User groups will be playing a key part this year, with dedicated areas for attendees to link up with user groups in their areas. This is a nice touch.
However, the thing I particularly like about the conference is the blend of topics. There’s sessions covering business concerns, as well as technical and developer areas. There’s sessions on 2007 as well as 2010. And they’re all marked with the appropriate technical level required. You can see why I think it’s good value.
But as great value as it might be, it’s even better when you can attend for free right? If you’d like to win a free ticket to the Australian SharePoint Conference, get along to a local user group – some of the user groups around Australia are offering them as prizes to attendees eg check out the SBTUG and SWUG competitions.
The conference is on in June 16-17 – see you there!
