Chad takes a look at why many projects fail when attempting the big rewrite. Written late last year (yikes! that's an eternity ago) the article is a series of insights in to common project failings. I especially relate to the Wishlist point (ie scope creep) which is the main issue that I've seen affecting projects of any type... 'Can we get some Web 2.0 experiences into this new version...' will the current manifestation. A great read.
Incidentally, at Elcom we are just starting the process of thinking out a big product rewrite...
